The Northwest Blacksmith Association is dedicated to education and the preservation of the art and craft of blacksmithing.
Each year NWBA sponsors one or more 3 day conferences. These are three-day events that bring together hundreds of blacksmiths from around Washington, Oregon, Idaho, British Columbia and afar. Three days of demonstrators, hands-on workshops and the camaraderie of folks who share a love of blacksmithing.  Also featured: a first forging station for newcomers, a repoussé station, member’s gallery, silent and live auctions, an open library, banquet and more.  In years past we have had 2 conferences each year, but in 2013, in hopes of increasing hands on participation, we have secured a permanent location at the Cowlitz Expo Center in Longview, WA for monthly demonstrations and open forge.  This year is our trial run to see if we can offer more services and classes to more members.  In addition to our conferences and monthly demonstration/open forge we encourage and promote our membership to host hammer-ins, blacksmithing classes, gallery exhibits.

In 2013 we will also be hosting a huge Western States Conference, with members from other ABANA affiliates in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Alsaska, British Columbia and farther.   Held at Mount Hood, the town of Government Camp, OR will be buzzing for 4 days of demonstrators, hammer-ins, gallery exhibits, the now famous Blacksmith Wars, tailgating, banquet and more.

Due to insurance requirements one must be a current member of the Northwest Blacksmith Association to attend our events. Once you get a taste of this great opportunity for learning and making friends with lots of blacksmiths,  we think you will be back for more!
