19th Annual Northwest Jewelry and Metals Symposium is going to be held on Saturday, October 18th at the Washington State History Museum in Tacoma, Washington.

Doors open & registration from 9-10am. Symposium is from 10:00am-5:30pm. Then the opening reception at the TAM is at 6:00pm.

We’re excited to announce an amped-up lineup of SIX speakers this year! Our confirmed presenters are curator Suzanne Ramljak, historian Stephen Fliegel, metalsmith Myra Mimlitsch-Gray, artist Jennifer Trask, jeweler Todd Pownell, and Vivian Beer.

This year the event coincides with Metal-Urge is Tacoma’s city-wide celebration of the metal arts during which venues around Tacoma program a wide variety of metal-based activities including exhibits, workshops, lectures, festivals, and more, as well as the opening of the exhibition Contemporary Armor to Amulets at the Tacoma Art Museum.

The close-of-day speakers’ reception will also double as the opening celebration for the Protective Ornament exhibition, meaning Symposium attendees will be among the first to see this beautiful collection of wearable objects.
