NWBA Clubhouse Demonstration and Open Forge
February 23, 2013, 9 AM – 5 PM
Cowlitz Expo Center, Longview, WA
9:00 a.m. Demonstration begins
12:30 p.m. LUNCH and Open Forge begins
Demonstrator: Dean Mook: “Wall Sconces, Lampshades and Party Hats”
Learn how to develop a pattern for making a conic section, and use that technique to create wall sconces and lamp shades.
We will also be learning how to work with mica as a lens material.
There will be 5-6 hands on stations, bring your favorite hammer and any other tools you like to work with, and dress in layers for warmth (there is heat, but the door is usually open).
The first clubhouse event was a huge success, over 120 in attendance. Darryl Nelson’s demonstration of finials was fantastic. Darryl generously had available handouts of notes and pictures of the demonstrated items. He also made forged refrigerator magnets for the first 50 to arrive.
