Due to the Government shut down the 2013 Williamsburg workshops featuring Stephen Mankowski have been put on hold. Fort Vancouver National Historic Site is shut for an unknown period of time. Plans will be made to reschedule these events once the park reopens and we can talk with staff about scheduling. We are all disappointed with the situation, We hope to have the events late winter early spring next year

Fort Vancouver Historic Trades Guild is hosting Stephen Mankowsky; blacksmith from Colonial Williamsburg.  For over 20 years smiths from this shop have come west to teach  historic work utilizing systems with minimal tooling and accurate forging skills.   More about the demonstrations HERE.

The demos at Fort Vancouver will cover, among other things, hearth cooking items from the Williamsburg archives and some fancy hinges. Each year artifacts from the Fort archives are also reproduced. 3 days of demos starting Fri 11 Oct, show begins 9:00 am On your own for lunch.  There will be a charge at the door

Three days (18 -20 Oct) of hands-on at Meridian Forge  making a 9” revolving cooking grill (AKA gridiron) and flesh fork.  Experienced beginners can do this work.  Those with forge welding anxiety can use rivets.

CLASS CANCELLED. IT WILL BE RESCHEDULED WHEN MORE IS KNOWN ABOUT THE REOPENING OF FORT VANCOUVER.

$350 for the class, $100 non-refundable deposit holds a class position.
