Tool Making Class: Arnon Karmazov

Date/Time
Date(s) - 03/12/2016 - 03/13/2016
9:00 am - 4:00 pm

Saturday and Sunday, 9am-4pm

One of the advantages of the smithing craft, and also one of its joys, is the ability to make tools both for yourself and other craftspeople. We will progress from the simpler to the more complex, learning how to make a center-punch, a chisel, a screw-driver, a crowbar, a hammer and smith’s tongs. In the process, we will learn the various crucial smithing techniques such as drawing down, upsetting, punching, twisting and hot-cutting. We will also anneal, harden, and temper our tools. The skills and principles learned can be used to make a variety of tools and implements, both beautiful and useful.

There are no pre-requisites – this class can be taken by complete beginners as well as by more experienced students who wish to expand their range and their skills. The tools made by the students are theirs to take home.

The fee is $360, which includes all materials and safety equipment. The class is limited to 8 students.
