It’s been awhile since anyone has posted a project. Seeing as since I think it’d be good to encourage website activity to start sticking pictures up more to encourage participation. I will start by putting up a picture of a project I demonstrated for students to do, and that the students then did. Hopefully others will start adding more projects and we can get this site active again in time.

Very nice!

I was thinking about wall-hanger racks, and there are so many designs that could be made; so many opportunities for experimenting.

Thank you. When I first started I made an adapted version of what Lorelie Simms has in her book. A couple years later this version popped into my head. (Probly rather close to hers but I carefully made sure I didn’t recheck her book so I wasn’t copying.) I eventually wrote it down then figured out measurements. So the holes would be 24″ from each other centered and the rack would be 4″ from the wall. (My original was bow shaped and I love the look but made the ends rather close to the wall). This one I wanted further from the wall. The hardest part was layout. After I did a trial run one I made 4 story stick’s for the class to do their layouts without the math and me having to refigure it all out again.

Nice job on that rack, Rashelle!  I’ve been wanting to make something like that for my wife for the past 10 years, however, work, and responsibility keeps getting in the way.

A fellow came into the center in January during open forge with an old hay fork; he had intended to make it into a utensil rack. I was thinking about it, and you could do something similar with an old yard rake.

I’ll let you all use your imaginations for where something like that could go. 😉

Thank you Lynn. The hardest part is the layout. I solved that issue by making a few story sticks so I wouldn’t have to refigure and measure each measurement every time I demo one. Next hardest part is the 4 double hooks and all they are is 2 tapers and three bends.
