The stamen of a flower is often made up of multiple filaments. Here is a method of recreating that look.
Weld the end of a piece of ¼ inch cable to anchor all of the wires. Weld that end of the cable to a ¼ inch rod.
Unwind the cable. Pull the rod/cable assembly through a 5/16 inch hole, drilled in a piece of steel, to the desired filament length. Cut off the loose ends of the cable using an abrasive disk. Pull the rod/cable assembly through a 5/16 inch hole drilled in the flower and weld it in place. Spread the wires to the desired shape.

Very cool technique. One question I have is: Why spread out so much wire if you are going to cut off as much as you did? I think it would be doable to work with a shorter amount.

Ah; the length of the wire in the picture is misleading for me. Thanks!
