While I am no blacksmith (sadly, and hopefully this will change!), I have started a collection of weapons, and I've recently come across this knife. It's about 16 inches long, 1 1/3" wide, and LOOKS to be able to be sharpened to some extent on both sides of the blade. I'm not sure of the origin, or even the culture, so if anyone out there can help, it would be appreciated!

Looks like it might be some variation of a kinjal. If it had a ridge down the middle I'd say "jimbaya," but there's no ridge. The pommel looks like ones on a lot of kinjals. The sheath looks like one for a jimbaya.
There are a whole lot of variations on ethnic blades. They're all quite interesting, and your specimen is no exception.
No matter where you go... there you are.
