Admin posting on behalf of Greg Kraft:

Good Afternoon,
My Dad is an occasional volunteer at The Klein Museum in Mobridge SD that is made up of exhibits to preserve the heritage of the area.  They have an item that was donated and have been unable to identify what it would have been created to do.  He asked me if I would try and find somebody that would have some ideas to what it is and used for.  I figured that blacksmiths would be the best place to start.

My Dad is in his late 80’s and was raised on a farm in that area, as were most of the other volunteers and none of them are sure of its function.  My guess is that maybe it is from some other area and was used in a way that they would not likely ever have had to experience.

Thank you for your time,
 Greg Kraft gkraft@itechserv.com

It's almost like two wood parts would go through the large holes on the sides, while one middle one would go in the square one. Chains or rope might go in the two parts that have the clip-things. No idea what it would be used for.

Just having some fun messing around with whatever I have a mind to do.

It reminds me of a yoke, but that's probably not correct.
