So I'm pretty new at the whole business aspect of blacksmithing specifically liability... Do I need insurance for demo's or just for my general operations? I sell a lot of stuff online and my "shop" is just my single car garage of the house I'm renting. I smith maybe one or two days a week and I've only done 1 demo so far but would like to do more if the opportunity presents itself.

Hey Andy:
My experience has been that I have not had to have liability insurance for demonstrating... Some fairs have required that my forge be outside of any canopies, and have a fire extinguisher close by... I think it kind of depends on how bad they want you... I demo'd at the North Douglas County Fair, a show with maybe 15 booths, and no problem to have a forge under a canopy and no problem for any kind of insurance.... So, I would say, unless the show asks for insurance, don't worry about it, unless you think that you might screw up and burn the whole damn place down
