I had a great time at the Fall Conference. I always enjoy the tailgating, even when I don't find something to buy. Great fun seeing what people bring.

Dick Fedder is always there early setting up his forge helping all who ask, demonstrating and showing everyone the simple ways that have served blacksmiths for generations. Thank Dick!

Really enjoyed watching Tom Ferry! His explanations and demonstrations of heat treating were a real education.

Hand-on was always crowded with people making, trying and watching.

So, tell us about your experience!

I learned a few things and had a great time.
I'm hearing a lot of comments elsewhere about the rain. Rain is not a problem! It's a fact of life. We slept outside in a 35 year old pup tent and didn't get wet. It's all good.

Hey Larry! Really great job with the 'hawks. You could probably do the same workshop for the next dozen conferences and fill them every time. I don't know if Larry is the sort who always prepares in detail or if he just wanted to make sure he didn't em-bare-ass himself. Probably a little of both. Many years ago when you said you were just a "hawker" I had no idea!

Had m'self a grand ol' time. Made a couple new friends. Learned some new tricks. Bought a tool or two. Took lots of notes. Picked up a pair of Library books on Sunday.

I need to make me one of them cool little cars for the next conference!

No matter where you go... there you are.

I have never been disappointed at any of the conferences, I have been to over the years. I always look forward to when I can make it. I had a very good time again and it was very affordable, until I started tailgating and bid $125.00 for a hundred dollar bill.

The rain was no problem for the tents set up in the barn next to the tailgating area.
It was very dry.

I had a great time. I learnt a lot more about knife making, metal making, hawk making, scroll making, and hawk throwing. I watch everybody enjoying the demos and the forging stations, lots of library books were checked out, the archives rocked. And I am inspired to make a bbq tool, even though bbqing is Dave's job. Thank you all.

I LOVE the conferences!!!:bounce:This fall was the third that I attended. It was great! Got lucky and got in Larry's hawk class. I enjoy doing hands-on stuff that I have never made before, such as a hawk. I seem to always learn a lot, but seems by Tuesday after, I've forgotten 90% of it. Good notes and photos are good. I am really pleased to be a part of NWBA. I that for a volunteer organization it is very well run. Conferences are well organized. Great Job:skip:

Aw Bill, I had to miss it too, but you know, there'll be another one in just a few months. It'll be my first, maybe we can both make it and you can show me the best parts. :skip::bounce::showoff:

I had a great time at conference. Tom Ferry's knowledge of metals was UNBELIEVABLE. Interesting thing changed this time. With the exception of a few folks nobody has ever even said Hi to me at the conference because I'm not one of the known hot shit smiths. This time folks saw my name tag and recognized me from this site and were friendly.
Had a good time as usual going off somewhere and making music with Tim Middaugh(sp?).
I'm probably too old to become one of the hot shits but I'll keep plugging along and smacking on hot iron. This site has been the best upgrade to the association. I really appreciate the knowledge sharing here...

I have to agree w/ Eric about this site being the best thing that this organization has done in quite some time to get members talking to each other and keeping with what is going on.
