A little earlier today under RPI Vegas both Sam and Ryan lost their jobs as moderators, to which Sam posted a reply stating that he was done posting to the forum. This is as I remember reading it.....as it was all removed shortly after my reading.

A brief explanation of what happened to the missing threads will be posted soon. Please allow a few days for further information as most of the board is unavailable today and tomorrow.

Also, the web forum policy for http://www.blacksmith.org is being written so that everyone will know exactly what the policy for language and content is for our forum. The procedures for handling the moderation of our site will also be explicitly stated.

Its always convenient for the people in control when they can & do erase posts and threads like they never happened. At least on IFI you expect it, I never expected it here.

Rembrandt, among others, cognizant of their contribution, always signed their work. Mr. Apple, after discoursing with you on this topic, I took the liberty to forward information to you via email regarding this discussion. Make good use of it, sir!

What the "H" happened with Sam and Ryan??? I'd say "hell" but that might get me kicked off this website...
Both these guys have been GREAT contributors to this site!!! Who'd they piss off??? What's up??? If this kind of censorship continues... I AM DONE with the NWBA!!! :stomp::stomp::stomp:

my moderator privileges were removed by the "paid help" because she cant take criticism. Both Dean and Amy made false attacks against myself claiming I made personal attacks against Amy. Meanwhile she deleted the posts so no one could see them. I stand by what I said. I attacked no one. I clearly stated that Amy NEVER brought foreword any information to prove her point.

Amy Mook is the wife of Dean Mook, one of our Board members. Darryl Nelson, and Bill Apple are also personal friends of Dean and Amy which to the rest of the world is very much a conflict of interest. Amy Never should of been hired for the job strictly based on that information, not to mention she had no experience.

The NWBA is loosing money so instead they spend how many thousands of dollars to build a new site the membership didn't want or ask for. Makes a lot of sense doesn't it.

Im sure Amy will find some trumped up reason to delete this post too, so read it while you can.

The reality is, they don't care what we want. This regime is no better than the one they replaced.

The new site will be up soon, so they say and we will get whatever crap the hired help decided she wanted to do.

Have fun. Im out.

This site used to be a fun place to go when Grant was around, now it seems about politics and backbiting.....hope it works out....

I always appreciated the fact that blacksmith.org had less rules than IFI. Each has their place (or had). Grant used a light touch.

If this site becomes another IFI then it will simply die since IFI already has that niche filled.

this was just too bad. management made a mess out of what could have been a lot easier (closing Vegas). if they're interested in fixing things I would suggest reaching out to Sam and Ryan and see what could be done to get them back.

but so far they (mngt) seem to be afraid of admitting that they made a mistake. too bad.

btw I am not a NWBA member but I have been reading here for a while.

I had to laugh when I saw Tom Allyn's post. Grant censored anything he didn't like, with his "light touch." The website has always filtered information that it didn't want the membership to hear. It's their website. They can do anything they want!

I was disappointed, this discussion was played out on the front page of the website. I think it hurts the club in the long run.

Great men talk about ideas. Average men talk about things. Little people talk about other people. One of the two principals involved in this discussion launched, without provocation, several vituperative attacks against me for no reason imaginable to anyone with a modicum of logic or common sense in another popular blacksmithing forum. I can only shake my head in wonderment at the workings of karma in this situation......:bounce::bounce::bounce:

I've been watching this abuse of power by the new ELITE of this forum and like many others I'm sure, it pisses me off and definately makes me look elsewhere for comeraderie in the artist/blacksmith/bladesmith forum.
Perhaps a new group of like minded smiths should look at forming a new orginization that keeps the interest of ALL !! members as it's focus of operation not just the FEW !! as things are being handled at present !!!!

Lets see how fast this idea is deleted by the elite !!!!

Hey Guys

The "Vegas" thread is officially dead... Apparently for good reason... Seems that with our new 501 (C) 3 Non-profit designation we can't be as mis-behavin' as we used to be... I have communicated with Bill Apple, Amy Mook, Sam Salvati, and Ryan Wilson... Sadly, Sam and Ryan won't be posting here anymore...Cry Ryan says he will continue to be a part of the NWBA and will be at the next conference.

I think that everyone who commented on this thread has a commonality: Each in their own way was trying to protect the website and the NWBA. It was a Great battle!!! And the bottom line is that everyone posting is passionate about blacksmithing AND the NWBA!!!

I must apologize for some of the comments that I made... I am reminded of the verse in Proverbs, " Better to keep silent and be thought a fool than open your mouth and remove all doubt. "

The comment I most regret was, "If this kind of censorship continues, I am done with the NWBA."

If I quit the NWBA, I would cry for a long, long time...

The NWBA is an organization with the best people I have ever known!! Still can't believe that you can leave your money can along with your goods at the tailgating section for 3 days and when you gather things up, your money, your goods are still there!!

I have learned sooo much from this forum... Very skilled smiths sharing their knowledge... I have learned sooo much from the conferences!!! In fact, I don't care what else is happening, I WILL be at every conference.

So, let's stop flogging this dead horse "RIP Vegas", let's fire up the forge and get back to doing what we LOVE!!!! Smiting Iron!!!:skip:

Hope to see all of you at the hammer-in last weekend in January!!!
