Hot dipped galvanized ain't just for under paint imo.........I did 100's of feet of outdoor railing with the sample shown, 3/4'' sq, forged, twisted, fabbed into rail then galved. A gun blue/black spray to darken, steel wool buff then a bronze collar and forget it.

Cool Bruce: Thanks for the info... I have a stair rail job coming up...

I'll show pic's of the stair grip rail that I made based on your comments, once it is installed... 1" pipe hammered to oval and scrolled on the end...

Looks nice, Bruce. Anything that doesn't look like Indital is good with me!~ There's a paradox with galvanizing. Here in the NW, it's almost twice as cheap as powdercoating or paint yet the finish last tens of times longer. I'd put it on everything exterior if I could.

I used galv with a patina on this sculpture.
