This is what happens when you collect your own work. Some were bought at shows or over the internet. I plan on showing some in a publication.

I really like the cannon ring. How much powder does it hold?

Grip the cold end. Hit the hot end.

The bronze cannon dosen't have a touch hole, will drill one and draw straws for first volunteer to shoot it. Got to get some firecracker fuses to size the hole.

lAny volunteers??

Hi Dave, If this is the folder, I bought it off ebay, it's an oldie and nicely made. No touchmark or country of origin. Paid abouy $110 plus hiping for it. I've been buying a few folders for a future publication I'm working on, now a couple years now, don't want to rush into anything, that way my wife thinks I'm working:bounce::bounce::bounce:

I have several more photos of the locking feature but need to Photoshop them.

[Image Can Not Be Found] This is a well made antler handle lockback folder. It appears old.

I reshot the folder using slab of spalted butternut (if I remember right) for the background, my wife is a wood carver and a has lot of wood in her storage racks. Got more lights for the photo table today and playing with setups.

David,

As old as it looks, my guess it was made long before my time.

I have a antler handle folder with a blade pin lock made within the last 20 years, I need to find it and take some photos, it' very nice.

This is a Fiddlin Red (Greg Simpson) antler handle folder that he made for me, perhaps 20 years ago. It has a blade pin lock like the old antler handle folder. The antler is a elk brow tine. Red did a demo in Momty Day's blacksmith shop, Kettle Falls, WA years ago.

I saw his personal antler handle folder and fortunatly was able to order one. Red does primo knife work. I'll post this image and take some close ups. It will take a while. I like to photograph when taking a break from being retired.

Red made a belt clip which is clipped to the back spring ring.

OK here more images of red's folder,

[Image Can Not Be Found] Beaver tail spring, the saddle has a weeping heart design.

[Image Can Not Be Found] The blade locking pin

[Image Can Not Be Found] Blade locking pin in spring hole.

[Image Can Not Be Found] Red engraved my initials on one side of the blade.

[Image Can Not Be Found] This side of the blade has Red's touchmark, a fiddle and a cross, also nice engravings near the blade spine. This is not for sale, goes to our son when I croak, just so happens his initials are G.C. too.

I processed these images in Photoshop and saved as 150 dpi about 5-6 inches wide. I see the forum software reduces the file, my computer and DSL connection is fairly fast, anyone have trouble with being too slow, let me know, perhaps try something else.

Gene, after you open the attachment you can click on it to get the full size image. I do have the max set at 800px X 600px. You want more? Lotta folks just have 800 X 600 screens.

Saw a blacksmith in Korea welding little rings like that. He'd hold them in the fire and reach in with a stubby tong and squeeze the weld tight and then bring it out and dress it.

That works, will try to stick to those dimensions or under, if I have a special image maybe post bigger, does the forum software resize.??

I know just enough about PC's to get into trouble, know something about carpentry, built a house, made my living with electricity, 440 vac will make your crap your pants, I'm lucky to be alive, don't pick up black iron next to a blacksmith anvil.

What a great idea, welding a ring like that, there is always something to be learned from other smiths.

Yeah, the forum will resize them if they are too big.
