I have always liked gentle curves like nature on my cabinet hardware. Leaves work well, some animal bodies work well like lizards and snakes. If using a leaf design, use the branches as your handle and the leaf as the end detail, or ... wow, there are just so many different ideas it's pretty hard to decide. lol.
What would go well with the area you are working with? That's really the best determinate of what to put there.
Hope this help you out.

Thanks for the ideas. I have a couple of applications for the pulls or handles.
I would just like to stretch my meager knowledge base when it comes to pulls and handles. Such as Ideas for attaching them to the cabinets whether it be tapping them out or welding on a short peice of round stock and so forth.

You can upset a blob like Sam's nail there. Instead of tapering the shank, run a threading die down the shaft, otherwise you need to weld on a stud. Can't use a bolt since the head will interfere with the mounting, unless you relieve the wood facing.
Somewhere I have some photos of pulls I made under my 100 lb kinyon air hammer. The short of it is: upset a 2" long cylinder blank into a thick washer (~1/2" thick). This gives you a blob head to forge dimples on and a short shank that you can then drill and tap for a stud. If you ask most guys, I don't know if you could, or should do them for less than 20 to 25 bucks ea. Alot of labor goes into the tapping and threading.
Good luck~

Here is a simple drawer pull swedge I made from a hammer bit. I fits in my hardy hole. It is for 1/2" round stock.I think I put a piece of about 1 1/4" in it and wail away with my 8# maul.Throw a bunch of the blanks in a little propane forge and move right along. You can,of course,do anything you want to decorate the head. Make sure and buy bottom taps that will go all the way to bottom of the hole and VERY careful to not snap the tap off.Yes-I have done it several times.
