I just didn't know where to post this. Just received this email from John Emmerling:To All,

It is with heavy heart to inform you all that Tom Dudkowski passed away
Sunday night in the Salem hospital from a very aggressive cancer. He
went to the Mayo Clinic last Wednesday for testing and they informed him
that there was nothing they could do for him. He had a painful trip home
and went to the Salem hospital on Saturday for medication. He went back
on Sunday as the pain was worse and passed away peacefully Sunday night
with his family at his side.

"Forging on the Farm III" will happen on the weekend of 6-11-11. It will
be our tribute to Tom and we hope to have a hell of a good time. Keane
and I will probably go to the farm on Thursday morning to help set up.
Camping , family ,fun...as usual. We hope to see you all there, and make
a weekend of it. I am hoping we can forge a memorial to Tom.

John

Many people just don't know what to say when something like this comes up. I can only barely picture Tom. I remember him as pretty friendly and easy-going. Didn't he do some hands-on demonstrating last fall on hawks? Many people I know on sight, but can't remember names well. Has anyone got a picture they can post of him?

but then there are others who, with the help of their art and their intelligence,
transform a yellow spot into the sun.” ~ Pablo Picasso ~

I met Tom several years ago through John Emmerling. Tom was extremely active in the CBA and worked many years at Folsom Prison. Tom was also a very talented and handy smith with a well equipped forge any smith would be proud to call their own. Tom retired several years ago and moved to Stayton Or to his families property. Recently Tom had become active with the NWBA. Last year he lead a Hawk making hands on workshop with the aid of Bob Goff. HeI know that Tom worked at Gearhart Ironwerks with John for some time. Several Years ago, Tom began having an annual Hammer-in that was called "Forging at the Farm". I was able to attend the first one and had the time of my life.

Tom was one of the most sincere, nicest guys I have ever met. Always funny and quick. Always fast to lend a hand to those in need. Tom loved to demonstrate and I was always amazed at his comfort speaking in front of groups. I put up the only photo of Tom that I have and as always he has his arm around someone. That was Tom.

Our community has lost a very dear brother. I know that all who new him were always proud to call him a friend.
