2 weeks in June, summer camp for city kids, in SE Portland.
16 -20th and 23 - 27th June 2014
Could lead to more weeks if the fit is good, or some weekend sessions.
Mon – Fri 8:00am to 3:30 – 4:00 pm

Instructor is paid the full work day as they lunch with the class.
Instructor rate is $12.00 per hour
Staff/safety Mtg 8:00 Am, 10 – 15 Min, next 15 Min class set up,
Class starts at 8:30am
12 students ranging in ages from 11 to 16 years old. 2 one week classes back to back.
New group of kids each week.
There will be a teaching assistant assigned to you.
3:00-3:30 PM the kids start clean up, out at 4:00 or earlier
First few days are a introduction to basic forging techniques, with the kids
trying exercised the instructor has developed.
Moving on to light projects: “S” hook, leaf, fork, spoon, chisel, punch, etc
Trackers would love to add nails.
This is the first year of 2 one week programs, so the instructor has the ability to modify the
class curriculum as they see fit. Adjustments can be made for the abilities of the class.
The class can make tools for the shop such as bending forks and twisting tools
(Twist tool = cut outs in flat bar for ¼” and 3/8”)
The shop has limited forges (gas Ferrier type)
and anvils, so the kids need to take turns.
