Hey all!
I'm Andrew as you can see, I wanted a new hobby and this one seemed as it would go hand in hand with smoking meat and drinking/ brewing beer. I just made my forge and am waiting for it to cure completley so I can dive deeper down the rabbit hole. I have Ideas of making longswords but mostly the rod iron decorative stuff to appease my wife and justify the hours I will be spending in my garage on top of the countless all night brisket and pork butt smokes I currently do on a regular basis. I've been lurking around the forum for a few weeks now and would like to get as much knowledge as I possibly can out of this site. As well as providing any knowledge I can to help out where I can. I am a computer nerd and am willing to help out with anything needed in that area ( I noticed there is talk of an app and could help with the making and maintaing of it) as well as beer brewing and meat smoking. I'm a telecommunications engineer and live in beautifully cold north idaho.
Thanks for the wealth of knowledge and a place to talk about the craft.
-Andrew

Andrew, if you have the chance to come down to Spokane in April or early May to visit my shop, you're most welcome.

Say Hi to Steve when you are in Spokane~! I owe him a visit too...

The NWBA had our fall conference in CDA in the fall of 2001, about two weeks after 9/11. Quite memorable out there at the Hern Ironworks. Are they still around>?

They only remember you when you SCREW UP~!!!

Thank you for the welcome everyone!

Steve H: I will definately say hello to Steve when I can get to his shop, and yes Hern is around I was there yesterday begging for coal (to no avail) and looking at their swage's and avils.

Larry: Yes creeper status removed! thank you for the welcome

Lynn: Hardly the man just have alot of hobbies and hate paying for things when I can make it, but thank you I will take ego boosts while I can.

I can't wait go to a conference, my work takes me all over WA state and some Oregon and Montanna so I'm hoping to be doing field work around the conference in Longview and take a long weekend to partake.
