names Yaotzin (YUh-OaT-SIN). Born and raised on the carcinogenic coast. i've always been a hard worker and enjoy learning useful trades. only recently (past 6 months) have i started some research into blacksmithing. information is a bit scarce so i came to NWBA to learn more. im 27 years old and am planning on building a homestead and i need reliable trades to help make my life more self sustainable. blacksmithing offers so much to the homesteader in that he/she can repair his own equipment and forge his own tools. i find this invaluable and hope to learn much more in the time to come. currently i live in a small apartment so i am limited on space and the amount of noise im allowed to make. i'm totally blind going into blacksmithing but i feel this is something i should get into the more i read about it. i've read and watched videos on coffee can forging and it may be just what i need to get started practicing with my limited space. so what do yall think? should i give the coffee can forge a try? i hope to make some hinges, nails, railroad spike knife to get the ball rolling.

oh, and im not to keen on types of metals and their applicable uses. if anyone could share resources and/or links offering insight i'd greatly appreciate it. (course there may be a thread here on the forums that i overlooked)

well, i hope to learn much from yall in the years to come
