My name is Shawn Collins and I am a US Army soldier currently deployed to Afghan. I am here mainly looking for help on a project, but would be nice to meet some good teachers as well. I have always liked Blacksmithing, and it has been something I have wished to learn the basics of. I am originally from east Texas (Henderson to be precise). If anyone is from around there... Howdy.

Hi Shawn,

My Name is Brad Roland and I am from Washington state. Welcome to the forum and Thank you for your interest in this forum. There are plenty of folks here who might be happy to help you on your journey of blacksmithing. What kind of project are you working on? When would you need this project help? I see that you are deployed to Afghan but when will you be here to receive help? There are a lot of teacher types of folks in the NWBA so it would help to know what it is that you are interested in to help point you in the right direction.

Again, thank you for your interest and I am sure that one of the many folks here might be able to help you out. I am just a beginner in the blacksmithing realm and I could teach you what I know in about 5 minutes, haha.

Haha, I hope to learn just as much and more in the future, but first I need to learn to ultra basics and stuff. I should be back stateside early July-ish (Can't tell you dates or times.. OPSEC). Even though I am Texas-bred, I have always dreamed of building a cabin, or a house, up in the mountains in that area. I like mountains, seclusions, real living, hunting, logging, and all kinds of out door stuff, and I know out there I could probably find all of that. Learning to Blacksmith would just be the cherry on top.
