Hello, Smiths! *waves cheerfully*

I'm Rowan, aka Stabby Crackers, Pirate (amateur) Blacksmith. I live in Portland, and just recently joined NWBA. I couldn't be more excited to meet you all, see your work, eat your brains and gain your knowledge... hahaha!

In August I had the great good fortune of meeting one of your members here in town, and when I half-jokingly, completely earnestly asked him if he'd maybe teach me, he changed my whole world by agreeing. Little did he know that he was making one (inner) little girl's fondest, most impossible wish come true.

The feeling of making a tool (in my case, a nail header and tongs), and then using that tool to make another tool (nails, of course, and a marlin spike aka Knot Picker Pokey Thing™), is the most.... well, I don't have the words for how awesome it is, but I imagine you know exactly what it feels like. It's why we're here.

I don't get to get over to his place near often enough, but we're slowly working on getting me set up in my own back yard. I'm in a fever of anticipation for that. Just need a few more things!

Anyhow, it's nice to meet you all, hope to *actually* meet some of you soon!
