I'll take some or all. How do you want to handle postage and such?

I could just send a similar sized present your way. Box of toe calks, perhaps? :giggle:

Of course the boxes I have look like they've been sitting around a blacksmith shop for the last seventy years. They're hard bits that get attached to horseshoes for grip. There a special swage that goes with them, I dunno if they get swaged on or welded.

It was the least practical thing I could think of to offer that was still related.

Also, I'm certainly not trying to be greedy. I was just rooting around in my box of bits yesterday and thinking I should get around to buying some and then there was your lovely offer. More than happy to share.

That a neat looking finger-joint box Lewis, it's probably worth more than the contents.

The toe calks get forge welded on to the shoe. The store bought ones had a little nib(point) to attach it to the shoe while in the forge being brought up to welding heat. You would bring shoe to red heat and poke a little hole in the ground surface of the toe and tap the nib of the caulk into that. The swedge helped keep the bevel edge while actually hammering the weld.

The really good toe calks were lamented with a high carbon strip in the center and a low carbon strip on each side of it. it was forge welded to the toe of a horse shoe then the shoe was shaped with the heat left over from the welding,by then the heat would be down to a low red heat, it was then thrown in the slack tub. The heel were split and a pice of high carbon steel was put in the split and forge wielded in, then the heel was bent over 90 degrees and shaped then thrown in the slack tub The center of the calks would be a lot harder than the front and back so it would wear sharp. They were much better than using hard facing rod. The shoes were used in the winter and would last some times 2 to 3 winters and stay sharp till wore out.

Did Lewis and Sam speak for all of these? If not, they would work well in my new/old Unimat DB200.

I appreciate it Bruce. Lewis had first dibs, so I don't want to piss him off by showing up to the party late and expecting him to share the girls. Plus, I live north of the 49th and don't want to be a PITA for mailing them.

If Lewis and Sam feel like sharing, and you don't mind filling out the customs forms I'm game. Otherwise, thanks for the kind gesture.

I'm about that 'jolly', but not that far north. I live in the bustling metropolis of Regina, Saskatchewan.
