I am selling a firepot to a guy in Maple Ridge BC. He is looking for a coal supplier in the area. Does anyone know of a Vancouver area coal supplier? Or is there one just across the border?

There used to be a place called OCL or ICL industrial supplies in Surrey I think it was. I used to buy my coal there, it has been quite a few years since I used coal though. Might not have been in Surrey too so look around a bit. It was coal from down in the eastern states somewhere, good coal.

Thanks I will have to look and see if I still have a phone number for that customer and call him with that information. I did give him the phone # of some VIBA members to see if they could help him.

Kwantlen College, Farrier's Program got their coal from Robert's Bank. They have a small pile, 1/2 mile long, 1/4 mile wide, 200 feet high. Comes by rail from the Kootenay's, goes on board freighters heading East, across the fish pond called the Pacific.

We have used it as well. Very little clinker, good heat. Mix the fines with water, make like a paste, form the paste into hardball size balls. Works wonderful.:smoke:

Thanks Neil. I gave him contact info for the VIBA I may have given him your name I cannot remember. Hopefully he contacted one of the people I sent him to and found coal.

Good Coal is at Roberts Bank.

It is also available from Quinsam Coal Mine, just past Campbell River on Vancouver Island. Vancouver Island Blacksmith Association buys it by the Truck and Trailer, about 40 Ton at a time. Don't be afraid of the Ferry, it's a pleasant Journey.
