Nice digs! I've been putting off the big cleanup for too long.....Hose,cable extention cord monsters on the floor, flat surfaces all gone.....Working alone It's not so bad but with others it's insane......I spose you already know that Coke cooler is worth some bucks.......

I have been kind of dickin' about in there lately, kind of working kind of not, so I want to get my self together and get making money so I wanted to give everything a fresh start, time to get serious.

Wonder how much I could get for that old coke machine, it's got a few bullet holes but nothing crazy.

It looks like an adjustable (up and down) anvil to me....Solid 6'' Kelly bar maybe.......High for finishing, low for striking??....Cool

That's a nice setup for the small area that you have. how long have you been working in that tight area?

That's a nice size hammer too!

Thanks guys, Grant it sure is a bunch of fun to get in there now it's clean, got a batch of those tomahawks coming up, got a new drill press.

That is my adjustable bladesmithing anvil. It is made from 5 1/4" square tool steel that came from a closed down munitions plant in Alabama, they were forged into 155MM high explosive Howitzer rounds, just the thing to forge out swords and knives on  😉 It is made from 2 12" billets welded together, the stand is also fabricated by the same guy, Chuck Robinson from Missouri, this was the last double billet 200 pounder he had enough material to make. Hard as diamonds too, a real nice anvil to work on. He fabricated the stand so it has tong racks all around, and is adjustable from like 26 inches on up to almost 40, and has two lifting lugs welded on the side for a wire rope sling, really a slick designed and well built tool.

Brad, I have had the shop for about 3 years now, and am only now finally getting back into it fulltime.

That is quite a nice anvil! Speculated about one mounted on a hydraulic jack. So, how do you raise it? Got a system? Be kinda cool to have a built in bumper jack, eh?

I got a pulley and an eye hook hung from the ceiling. I was thinking of a hydraulic bottle jack underneath, but would worry about the pounding on it, bumper jack would work good though. I honestly don't change it much. Got my new (to me) drill press in place, bench grinder/buffer fits perfectly under it.

Nice job on the shop Sam!! I had an anvil exactly like that... A Multi-products 125# made in Japan... They used to say that the louder the ring, the better the anvil. That thing would deafen you to use it... Glad it's living over at my brother's shop:playfull: Will you be at the spring Conference?? Love to meet you and BS a bit... That's BlackSmith or???

Thanks John, it feels comfortable to work in there now.

Lynn, yup that's my multi products, and you are right literally painful to use. I'd love to make it out by you guys, but I'm on the east coast that would be tough!

Sam,

Hi, I'm new here. I have some questions about two anvils in your shop.

This one appears to have a concave surface. I have been searching for an anvil like this. Was it custom made?

And this appears to be a huge, flat cylinder anvil. I have been looking for one of these as well.

I work with B20 bronze, cold. These two anvils look perfect for my work. How should go about finding them in the marketplace? Do they have technical or trade names, or are they both custom made? I'm still new to the world of smithing and need some guidance. Thanks.
