Sam, I don't have any pics but mine is a set of arms that are fastened to the wall every 5 feet and allow full-length sticks to be stored. I used 2" square tubing for the vertical and horizontal members. I also made a 6' basket to store short pieces and the whole thing has easily held more than a ton of steel at one time.
I have also seen dividers to store material vertically against the wall as you mentioned and it's pretty convenient if the pieces are kept to ten feet or so in length.

Sam, some images of storage in my shop. I don't overload the wood racks.
the vertical posts have a long screw added for more strength.

Sam,
(Not sure whether this will work) but take a look here:

There are pictures of mine on IFI under a thread Grant started called I will show you mine if you show me yours. My rack is vertical which is nice for keeping things a little more organized. I copied the one steel supplier I use for the rack. It uses the slotted angle used in "Dexion" type industrial shelving for the horizontals I then used 6" long carriage bolts with 2 nuts for the dividers. This way I can adjust the width of the sections if necessary.

I finally got some pictures.
I have a 20 foot rack, that is setup next to the main saw, so you can just slide pieces right onto the saw table. Its made from 2x2x1/4" square tube, and its freestanding.
Then I have cubbies for shorts, under 24".
I have the built in "leaner" that is a set of L shaped bars made from rebar, getting smaller as it goes up, this is bolted to the wall at the top.
Then I have vertical storage of stuff in the 4' to 7' range, too big for cubbies or leaners, too short for the main rack.
I also have upright storage for 4' x 10 sheets- and some shelving for sheet scrap, as well.
Then, there is the "far shed"- I dont wanna think about whats out there...

Hi Ries,
I like the leaners. I am going to incorporate this idea to cater for lengths less than 200mm (8") into my storage system. At present, under 8 inches goes to scrap, but there is good reason to keep these bits, particularly solids.
I am going to make one to go against the end post in the attached picture to pick up the sizes smaller than are accommodated in my rack. Good idea, thanks for posting.

And here it is!!! I finally Got tired of things being leaned against a wall and fast becoming a #@$%-pile, so I made a stock rack. It was 80% done being in that I scavenged the frame from an old shop I used to work at, then just welded studs onto it. Used 1/2 round for the upper ones and some 5/8" for the lowers, much more organized now. I have carried that big steel rack for 3 years now, FINALLY *angry yet accomplished fist shake* it is used for something
