Thanks! Is there a way to see which demos you can attend before making the trip? Sounds like this is gonna be a big one- probably dozens of folks for each seat...
Thanks for the reply,
Dave

The fall conference is going to be the one conference that nobody is going to want to miss. If I have to crawl, roll in a wheelchair, hitchhike, parachute in, or dig a tunnel I AM GOING! A lot of folks my age won't be here by the time another get together of this quality will come around again so don't miss your chance folks.

Blacksmith wars will be a big part of the Western States Conference. California is hoping to send several teams! Even Alaska is putting together a team! Website should be live next week. There are TWELVE western blacksmith organizations invited! But, of course, blacksmiths from around the world are invited to attend!
Each association is invited to supply a demonstrator, until we reach our maximum of nine. Mark Aspery will over-see the hands-on and California is bringing their entire teaching operation.

Thanks for the additional info, Grant.
What or who or how is the decision made about who gets to attend what demo?
Lottery at the door or ???

Well I'm excited, my son Gary and I were at the first Timberline blacksmith conference, camped in the parking lot, snowed in June, rode the ski lift, scared the crap out of me, I hate heights, now years later, booked a hotel for Friday and Saturday, Gary and maybe some of his sons/grandsons will attend too. Will be taking a coupple of digital cameras to document the event. No more ski lifts for gramps.
If I were you book rooms early, Government camp is small.
Need to review my photos, have some timberline blacksmiths in the files.

Will be at least 3 demo sites. First come-first served! It ebbs and flows.

Hey is there a post where we can discuss the Spring conference. (not to put the horse before the cart).
I'm confused as to several things with the BSW .
Do the two in the hat get to go with the team... what is that "big prize"and what happened to the inspired on the day Idea. teams will just practice the same piece several times.
Kinda ruins the whole thing in some way. Maybe will make better product. the team that win this go into the western states.
the hat crew could be some non beginners "pick" or random.
