“And why does Pratt need a power hammer?” one might inquire.
We aim to empower individuals to learn and create. A new power hammer will immediately impact our community of students, artists, designers, and craftspeople. We’ll be able to offer more classes in intermediate and advanced blacksmithing and metal working. We’ll bring more highly skilled national artists to teach blacksmithing intensives through our Master Artist Program. The new power hammer will allow artists to work with larger materials, creating expanded opportunities for creative expression. Think bigger and bolder art and design! We’ll offer artists access to the only publicly available power hammer in the region. Plus, we really really love that new power hammer smell.
“What does something like this cost?” one might ask.
While the joy of making art is priceless, the tools and equipment needed to make it are not. Your donation will help cover a portion of our power hammer purchase and installation expenses, including the following: purchase of a 55lb. pneumatic power hammer, a set of rounding dies for the power hammer, shipping and handling fees, installation fees, and electrical upgrades to support the equipment.
Partial project costs through power2give campaign: $6,975
7% power2give administrative fee: $525
Total power2give campaign request: $7,500
All donations to this project will be matched dollar for dollar by Raynier Institute & Foundation
