Hello everyone,
I am new to the forum. Although I have long had interest, I am also very new to anything in the blacksmithing world. I was hoping to get some advice on a throwing tomahawk I bought years ago. It has cracked at a stress point (probably mostly due to me using it inappropriately the back as a hammer. What can I say, I was young.) Can this be repaired? If I heat this up, can the crack be hammered back together?
Any advice?
Thanks,

Hey John:
Glad to see you here... Looks like your hawk has been arc welded together, or a poor forge weld... Probably not break if you use it as a throwing hawk... If you get rough with her, she will probably eventually break... Really hard to forge weld that back together, cleaning the inside surfaces is nearly iimpossible, however, you could arc weld up the cracks and, good as new!
