I'm working on an outdoor sculpture and want to offer the client the option of a long-term coating. I've read a few internet articles about certain paint products that will safely adhere to the galvanized coating but have no personal experience. Does anyone have experience with this process? If so, do you have any recommendations for prep, paint etc? Thanks

Just use zinc chromate primer and paint away after making sure there is no oil on the surface. Btw galv will take to patina very well...

Thanks for the info Bruce. Are you suggesting to prime with the zinc chromate primer onto the freshly hot-dipped piece then any top coating for decoration will work? Thanks

Yes, just make sure there's no oil left. You should be able to use most any paint on the primer but do a little more research or do the sissy thing and read the directions.....;)
