I called about the anvil which he listed for $450. Just going off the pictures I offered $300, he countered $350. I went to see it this morning to check it out in person. Its a Peter Wright 75 lb but it appears to have been dropped at some time and the corner of the heel is broken off. From the corner and about 2" along the side is an apparent delamination crack. I did a rebound and ring test on the face, rebound was pretty consistent at 80% and ring didn't have any dead spots even in the broken heel area. All in all other than the broken heel it seems sound but I decided not to buy at that price and I didn't try to renegotiate. I'm not sure if the crack would propagate since it looks like it has been that way a long time and its not in an area that would get heavy use. The seller is a collector and not a smith but he did have a 2 car garage full of tools for sale. I didn't ask about any other prices.
