Clay Spencer Tire hammer workshop. | Blacksmith Schools | Forum

Ok all you Blacksmiths and Knife makers. I have been in contact with Clay Spencer and am going to try and organize a tire hammer workshop this fall at my shop just south of Seattle. As far as I know this will be the first Tire hammer workshop on the West coast. Clay has built almost 400 of these hammers all around the east side of the country so its about time we got up to speed. Its looking like Clay himself wont be able to attend due to the distance out here (he doesn't fly and its like a 4000 mile round trip) But he will be sending all the jigs, fixtures and assorted bits and will help via email and phone. The cost of the workshop is a little up in the air because it will depend a bit on how many hammers get built and what kind of deal I can make on the materials. Target is $1500 and you go home at the end of the workshop with a brand new 50lb hammer built with all brand new parts. At this point I am thinking the workshop would be in November but it will be dependent on what response is like. I am going to limit the workshop to 20 people (thats a big pile of work to get done in 3 days) so if you have any interest get in touch as soon as possible. There is RV camping spots available with power and water a 1/4 of a mile from my shop and folks are welcome to stay at the shop if they just want to crash on a cot.
