I have a neighbor who has a Wood Miser Bandsaw Mill. He breaks blades almost daily! They are about nine feet long. Excluding the teeth, they are about one inch wide. The kerf is one eighth of an inch so the steel can't be much over a sixteenth. Is this something that you bladesmiths use?? If so I'll bring a gob of freebies up to Fall NWBA Conference.Let me know and I'll start saving them. Eric S.

Not worthwhile to get them re-welded? Bring em to the conference. Be even better if you can get specs on them.

I know of a few folks that like to use them for various knife endeavors.

I like patternwelding them, but they are not very 'sticky'. Lots of folks cant get them to weld.

After a bit of web research it seems the backing strips on the M42 type blades contains 3 or 4 % chrome, which explains why they dont weld so well, but give amazing definition in the billet!
