Hi all, I have a 150 pounds of cast iron in the shape of an anvil. I would like to donate it to the boy scouts, girl scouts, boys club, girls club, a school or a group who is teaching metal work. If you are or know a point of contact for this type of group please contact me. Cam

Hi Cam,

I run the blacksmithing program at Hahobas Boy Scout Camp. The NWBA has been very generous in helping donate anvils and other tools to our program, but more equipment is always welcome. We have a smaller version of one of these "anvil shaped objects" already, but I would be glad to add yours to our program. These cast anvils work fine for young scouts that just need a flat surface to hit stuff on, and having a variety of anvils means I can mount them at different heights so more scouts can work comfortably. A big one like this works better for young folks than some of the railroad rails we're using now, as it's a much bigger target to strike at.

If you're willing to donate it to us, I can make sure you get a donation letter from the scouts noting your donation for tax purposes.

I'll be at the clubhouse meeting in Longview this Saturday and we can talk then if you like. Otherwise, I see you're in Tacoma- I'm close by in Lakewood, so would be happy to meet up on a weekend.

You're also welcome to come out and see/use our smithy at the camp sometime too, just let me know if you're interested.

Thanks,

--Tracy

Hey Tracy, I also live in Lakewood off of Steilacoom. I think I have been to your house when you had a forge for sale. Send me your address and contact information please and I'll drop the anvil off. Cam

Thanks for the anvil Cam, I'll be bringing it up to scout camp in 2 weeks & mounting it on a stump for use in the smithy.
