I have an ancient anvil and I'd like to know more about it. On the side of it, it says: W. Coley and under that, it says Dudley Wood and under that it says Waranted. The back heel of the anvil has broken off, but the rest of it is in fine shape. Someone told me they thought it might have come from England. I'd like to know it's approximate age and where it came from. Thank you, John in Alaska

Interesting Note:
I have found a couple of listings of Coley anvils as "Mouse Hole" anvils, one such listing is in the 1844 NewOrleans TimesPicayune which shows Armitag and Coley Mouse hole anvils in their import list. The OCR (which is bad) is located Here: http://www.newspapers.com/news...../25594959/
When I first saw one, I thought it was a Mousehole just by the looks.
Interesting anyway.
