Aye! Perth went a whalin did he?

Nah, I'm not the blacksmith from Moby Dick, just a landlubber metal mangler that got the call for some repair work. New shackle and pin for an 800lb anchor and have an interesting repair to the 'gooseneck' on the main mast. 2" round pin that has eggshelled a 4" thick forging. Should be a fun one for the press to tackle. Have to forge the eyes after slipping it through the hole in the gooseneck.

Really a pretty schooner, the Zodiac is 127' and makes summer excursions in the San Juans and up into Canada.
They had the main bearings out of her and it looked identical to a Nazel bottom end; big bushings with oil grooves and missing ring oilers.

That was literally the problem with it- the anchor was getting hung up in the Haws around the shackle. They said when they released the windlass, the anchor just stayed there~! The newer shackle is lower profile and with the flat rivet heads won't hang up.

Hey Billy, its 1045. They say they are going to galvanize the whole lot at some point.
Check out this amazing piece of bronze I saw on the ship. The hand forged bronze spikes look sweet too.
