I will be at the conference this weekend.
If anyone has spikes and cable they don't need and will sell reasonably please bring them!
Thanks

What do you want for cable Dave? I just scrapped a bunch of spikes but think I might still have a few... I can probably get you scraps of what ever kind of cable you want..

Whatever you are, be a good one.

Bill C. gave me a bunch o' spikes large enough to keep me busy for at least a year. Thanks, Bill!
Still looking for 10 - 20 feet of cable to make Damascus.
Anyone near Olympia or going to the July swap meet at Studio4?
Thanks,
Dave

I've found that walking along railroad tracks is an excellent source of scrap iron and spikes.  Up in Eastern Whatcom County (Bellingham area), I average 30-50 pounds per mile looking at both sides of the railbed. Some tracks are picked over but some have a lot of good steel...

When a crew does repairs, they do not bother to bring the old parts back with them -- it's just left there.

The railroads usually prosecutes trespassers walking on their right-of-way- even fisherman moving along rivers. Don't blame them with all the folks killed by trains every year :)
