Many association websites for other trades (law, construction, etc) have a prominent link on their website where members of the public can post gigs and RFPs. A blacksmith site could also use this when members of the public want to find presenters/exhibitors.
It would also be a handy way to steer people to other smiths when one of us can't/won't do a job. I get asked about custom blades (not my cup of tea) or precious metals (which I have no experience with) or some other thing outside my abilities/desires/capacity. It would be nice to be able to say "go to blacksmith dot org and click on the big yellow button. A local smith will be in touch."
I can always remember "blacksmith.org," but I can't always recall the website or twitter name of a particular local smith who may do that particular kind of work.
