Al Bart Grant Information & Application

The NWBA’s Al Bart Memorial Grant is now open to anyone interested in learning about and spreading the knowledge and interest in the art and craft of blacksmithing. With our new status of non-profit charitable organization comes the unexpected gift of sharing this opportunity with more people. It is the hope of the NWBA that The Al Bart Memorial Grant could enable interested persons to attend an educational program such as a workshop or class with the intention of learning something new and sharing that knowledge and experience within and/or outside of our association. All interested persons are encouraged to download the attached application and learn something new.

Fellow blacksmiths, what a great opportunity we have once again, to create a great and memorable conference. We’ve got a couple of exciting, up tempo demonstrators this spring, and NWBA members with lots of enthusiasm and expertise to share. We are focusing on the basics of handwork and getting as many of our members involved as possible.

Please Pre-Register, through the online registration or by mailing in your registration, as soon as possible. This will help us to orchestrate the conference and banquet for the number of people who are attending with the greatest efficiency. To encourage you all to pre-register we are offering a free conference t-shirt with all registrations received before April 17th. Register early and reserve your T-Shirt. Only a limited number of conference shirts will be available for sale at the conference (an effort to avoid the burden of unsold conference t-shirt inventory).

    Federal Way, WA 98023

Also for those of you wishing to send cards to the family you can send them to the NWBA mailbox at:

    Founding Member Grant Sarver Passes

    Fellow Blacksmiths,
I am sorry to announce that Grant Sarver passed away this morning due to a aortic aneurism.
Grant was a Founding Member of the NWBA, past Board Member and a very gracious supporter and contributer to our organization and the world of blacksmithing. He was a unique fire that burnt brightly amongst our forges and will be very much missed.

Our condolences go out to his family and we will post any services information here once they are determined.

INo one ever hurt one of these machines by over lubrication. I use whatever oil is around. If I needed to buy oil I would buy chain bar oil. The machine should be a drippy oily beast.
