    Got to fooling around with some 2-1/2'' re bar today for an ''iron in the hat'' piece at RMSC this week end........5'' x 1-1/4 deep....... Attached thumbnail(s)

    I was at the scrap yard and while I was waiting in line to dump I spyed a 3' chunk of 2 1/2'' reeb by my truck (the fattest I've ever seen)......reasoning that it would be fair if I traded some of mine for that so it came aboard....no way I could buy it.
    Now originally I figured to twist it for a sculpture element and I still plan to, less 7.'' About 2/3 through the first heat I found out it was galvanized, gag, so I cleared out of the shop for awhile.....
    Ah, the question....Using flat dies in my 250# PH I upset it about 4 heats, the switched the upper flat with a hemisphere die made from a mill ball about 4'' dia., and drove it in to form the bowl.....

    gavlie rebar hu? Thats a new one on me.... Ive seen stainless rebar a time or two, epoxy coated bar.. But not Galvanized...

    I hate finding out something is galvanized like that... that fume cloud sucks..
