    Spiked

This is NOT how the railroads were built Punched and drifted the holes a little small for a snug fit. Not terribly impressive, but I like it and had a lot of fun making it

Oh the last pic is my 220# Wilkinson anvil. You can see the difference in color along the far edge where I repaired it with Stoody electrodes.

I knew before I clicked on it, It was going to be about RR SPIKES! I vowed a short time ago to not get involved in RR spike threads, all the ranting about them kinda sucked me in, and I posted some strong opinions........Maybe not here but at IFI
Anyway I really don't give a hoot about em', but you did something really cool, glad I clicked!.....b

Hey Jim, They're good material, some amazing things have come from those little chingaderos. I got involved with ''procurement'' issues and all that......As far as I'm concerned some people get way too bent out of shape if a guy picks a few up here and there and doesn't buy em new at Mcmaster Carr. Just don't let em see you walking down the tracks with your bucket....

Actually I found 3 pales of them in the back of a truck at my local JY. Got them for $12 including the bucket! Went back a few days later and the truck was gone. They usually let me know when stuff like those, horseshoes, etc comes in.

No tracks around here close, but Iremember walking miles as a kid and col, ecting ball bearings for my slingshot. Dont remember seeing a lot of spikes, though the tracks were no longer being used and a lot of foks walked them.
