    I will check it out John thanks for the suggestion, I am pretty sure according to my math on motor speeds and pulley sizes it is actually running about 138bpm but it was a couple of years ago that I did that math. I just tried counting a chalk mark on the flywheel and while I can spot the rpms I cannot count that fast. I will have to rent a tacho to check it out.

  2. I bought a little lazer tacho from ebay for a very small amount of money ( £25? ) It works fine, you put a bit of the supplied reflective tape on the rotating bit. It does sometimes false read, but it generally does it by x4 or x8 or whatever so easy to spot its misreading!
