    Spring Conference 2012 Longview, WA

It’s trial by fire as we try out Longview as a possible NWBA home base, for at least one conference a year. The theme of the conference is “Just Hit It”, and with the creation of a “first forging station” we will be encouraging all new members, and current members who have never forged, to get in the fire and hit some hot iron.

Our demonstrators are Gordon Williams from Arizona, and our own Elijah Burnett. It’s going to be a great conference, don’t miss it!

    On site camping available.

Keeriminy!! Long View Washington is damn near as far away from me as Mt. Vernon!! Will cost me around $ 300 dollars in gas!!! What's wrong with Stevenson??? Oh well, love the conferences... Was really unhappy cause I had to miss the Western States at Mt. Hood.

Lynn by the time you cut off 205 in Portland and go down the gorge to Stevenson I think you could be real close to Longview. I really like the idea of Longview as a permanent home for the organization myself (but then that's just me).

Mt Vernon, near where I live, is 189 miles from Longview, so, to some of us anyway, they are not exactly the same distance away...

In fact, its only 150 miles from Junction City to Longview, so personally, I think Lynn is the one gettting the better deal in this move.

My Honda gets 32 Mpg, so for me, round trip, thats only about $45-$50 to Longview and back.

Its not the distance so much as the traffic thru Seattle and Tacoma that will make me hesitate, but I will come if I can.

Kingston to Longview or anywhere else @ ~11mpg in the truck. Until Government camp I've always slept in a small tent. The 1968 Alaskan is replacing the tent.

I was curious how far it really is, so:
From your location Google maps says Longview 158 mi. Stevenson 155 miles. Mt. Vernon 344 miles. Gas is $3.79 today, so to Longview vs Stevenson is about the cost of a cup of coffee....unless you take the scenic route. Save the coffee money for the difference in gas and I'll buy you a cup when you get there. Hate to see a good man miss the conference because of the cost of a cup-O-joe!

Just wondering why Longview instead of Stevenson?? I LOVE the camping situation at Stevenson and the really friendly atmosphere of the place.Wake up in the morning next to the lake. Walk up the street to the friendliest espresso stand in the World.Everybody in that little town really seems to appreciate our presence.???? Am I the only one asking this question???

Well, I for one didn't know about Stevenson until we tried it. Same for all of the other sites. I'd guess we're trying Longview to see how it fits. Access is a bit easier as it is directly off of I-5. (Hope we can't hear I-5, but didn't care much for all of the trains going by in Mt. Vernon or Stevenson either) You are the FIRST to ask the question. Maybe others have thought it and will speak up now. Maybe a board member will respond to your question...
