Thread: Anyone with a power hammer near Tacoma?

  1. Anyone with a power hammer near Tacoma?

Hi I just moved up here and have a bunch of 4140 that I want to forge into forming stakes and specialty hammers, but don't have a power hammer up here. If anyone in the area has a power hammer, and wouldn't mind a visitor, I would be happy to pay, or bring beer or trade some steel etc. I am more equip and knowledgeable in forming sheet metal than blacksmithing and would be happy to invite you over to play with my toys some day as well.

    Thanks

Well, there be power-hammers and then there be power-hammers. How big of stock are you talking about?

I would be happy to play for a bit. I have more than enough hammer to do what you want and am just a bit north in Auburn
Whatever you are, be a good one.

  6. Thanks for the offers Mike and Larry.

I think Auburn is a bit closer for me than Olympia.

Larry, when would be a good time to swing by?

  8. Thanks Larry! I'm gonna call you shortly.

Here's one that i have been working on. Its made out of a 2 1/2" thick shackle I picked up at interwest. It weighs about 55lbs. Just need to taper a post and weld it on to finish
