    Mankel Monster

Got my Mankel up and running. Switched out the DC dayton for the blacksmithdepot one that rocks, and the forge runs like a top. HOT at only 3 psi, and it's very adjustable for the chamber size by stacking bricks. One burner runs a little hot, but i'll leave it that way so I can preheat on the less hot side then move left onto the hot side as I am forging. Did I mention I paid 50$ and it came with an anvil?

Thanks Lynn! I'll grab some shots of the anvil tomorrow, it's a "multi products" brand for farriers, very funky the horns is bigger then the rest of the anvil.

I'd say it was engorged, the horn is bigger then the rest of the anvil! Long heel too.

If I recall correctly multiproduct anvils were made in Japan back in the 70's and were made for farriers. The "swollen " horns were helpful in making horseshoes.

Sam, I bought a brand new 125# Multi-products anvil in 1976 for $125.00 You scored for the forge And the anvil... I must say that the anvil that I bought was a piece of cheese. I loaned it to my brother for forging knives and such. If you are not familiar with the "piece of cheese" story, here goes... my son was working as an auto mechanic with a Peruvian feller. When they would bring him a car that he thought was a piece of he would say with his accent... " This is a piece of cheese". Not to dis on the anvil you got. The Mankel forge is probably worth $450, the anvil another $350... So for $50 bucks... You scored!!! Good for you baibey!!

Cool, I have like I said heard nothing about them. The one I got seems OK, nice and hard with an ear splitting ring.
