Darryl Nelson and Dean Mook will be demonstrating a Norfolk style thumb latch, combined with a conventional mortise latch, instead of an open gate style latch. On the inside of the door there is also another Norfolk style handle with thumb lever. The latch box is a very smart, yet simple in concept system, turning vertical movement to horizontal. It involves some careful forging, including the seldom used process of forge brazing with copper wire, or very old pennies (once called penny welding). This is a very clever idea, and we are fortunate to have Darryl share it with us. This demonstration is one every smith will want to see, especially any professional smith doing residential work. Quality Handouts will be available.
Sorry I missed this, is there a transcribed version of this presentation?
