Simple is what Dean F. thought when he was contacted about us making them. There are 8 pieces each, 36 holes some drilled some punched, 4 matching fishtail scrolls, and 6 tenons all precisely fitted to hold the bottles at upward angles and not interfere with each other. To make matters worse is we were to replicate a mass produced item made in China? but make it as blacksmiths, without the mass production equipment and without the forged look . We started on a coal forge, ended with a small propane forge which I made before I ever started blacksmithing. Luckily that saved the day for us. We found out the hard way that on a custom piece matching customer specs (everything was precisely located and measured) to add in a much higher estimate on time it would take. It was and is a learning experience. There are sister racks we still have to final fit the tenons on those and assemble and finish. Given a choice in the matter I would of much rather forged the whole thing, it would of been more fun as well as faster, but it was a set of custom pieces as requested by a client, each costing more then the mass produced version.
