Hello all.  I finally finished the clamshell forge for our shop.  Used some info from the spring conference and made all the walls at a 5 degree angle.  Not sure if I want to make a door for the front or just continue to use the bricks

Billy O- Is that how you are registered as member? Can't find you. Look me up at Swaptoberfest to talk about induction forges. As we both know, every use of energy has it's downside. Let's talk.

Hi Donk.  Just saw this.

I went on vacation for a few weeks right after that post and so I fired it up for only the 2nd time yesterday, and still figuring out how to best tune it.  But after 2 hours of use, the entire inside was bright orange, and I like the doors.

I've been doing 90% of my forging with the induction forge in the past month since I got back.

Hello all.  I have had a chance to use the forge to make some larger pitch bowls.  Worked great with no issues for about 2 hours.

However, right after my last heat, I got a "pop" like blowback/burnback from the squirrel cage.  The reason I'm saying that is that I felt the blast wave through my pants on my left shin as the pop happened.  Any ideas on the cause?

The only difference in this set-up from my last one which lasted 10+years without issue is that this burner is bigger than my last one.

The only thing I can think to change is to swap the gas inlet Tee with the 6" straight piece, moving the gas inlet further away from the fan?

Thanks

as always

peace and love

wow, It's great to hear that you incorporated insights from the spring conference, especially with the 5-degree angle walls. As for the front, the decision between a door or using bricks might depend on your specific needs and workflow.
