Walking into the first conference I ever attended I saw an anvil on the tailgate of a pickup with a $100 bill taped to it to reserve it, no one around. I decided right then that I wanted to belong to that group!

I can't seem to find anything on the information site that states whether or not there are showers on site?? Anybody know? I'm not too picky about where the conference is held, but showers for we poor folks who camp there would be nice.

There are showers. The showers may require coins, the nice lady didn't know.

RVs using power or water should make reservations through the Expo Center Office @ 360-615-5631.
If you are Dry Camping, in RV without hook up or in a Tent, no reservation is required.

See you all there.

Hi all,
the last comment about too many form submits made me go look at the problem and I am not sure why but the site is locking out access to the registration pages.
I will look into this right now.
my apologies all for this mysterious and pesky problem, I hope to fix it asap.

the page is good to go now.
to register you can go to http://www.blacksmith.org/wp_f.....gister.php

conference info: http://www.blacksmith.org/wp_f.....12Info.php

looks like a weird hack happened, sending people to some form that does not exist?? I am going to have to watch this page to see what is going on.

Hi All,
Good news - tent camping is $16, saves you a few bucks for the tailgating area.

Can anyone tell me where to send a donation for the Auction? We can't attend but would like to make a contribution for the Auction and perhaps some catalogs too.

Thanks,

Kathy,
The best place to send donations to the auction would be to the NWBA office:
NWBA
4742 42nd Ave SW #185
Seattle, WA 98116

hope that helps,

Is there a full schedule posted anywhere, yet? Does the conference begin at 9am each of the three days? When is the last scheduled event on Friday? What days and times are the two main demonstrations? I've already registered, but I won't arrive until Friday afternoon some time, so it would be nice to know how fast I need to drive if there is something I really want to attend on Friday.

Thanks,
Matt

I am not certain of the exact schedule for the conference, but the general schedule is:
9-Noon morning demonstrator sessions, one demonstrator in morning another in the afternoon.
9-noon morning hands on sessions, one of the 4 hands on people per session.
Afternoon sessions around 1-4.
sorry I cannot be more specific about which demonstrator is up first etc.
I will try to get more information to post here asap.

Hey Matt: I am planning to teach a Friday afternoon or evening class. We will be making a wall hanging... 1/2" square bar, 10 wide by 12 high... Mortise and tenon joints for the frame... 2 "S" scrolls collared together and to the frame... We'll see how it goes.

Thanks for the info Amy and Lynn. Now I'm not sure when exactly I'll get there in the afternoon, so hopefully there will still be something going on. If not, I'll just be ready for Saturday.

I can't seem to be able to log on to the Convention Center web site. Trying to find out if there are any motels close by?

Good Morning,

Matt, don't be in a hurry to go to sleep. I'd be surprised if you were in the fart sack before Saturday. The yakking and story telling doesn't stop until the lights are turned off. Midnight madness is to dream about, don't start when the crowds are working, wait until they work their way out, then you have room to build something for the Auction Saturday after supper. If it takes a while, no problem, no clock is ticking.

Start early when the coffee is first ready, learn with your eyes and ears not your mouth, take lots of notes to refer to later, wear out your camera. Eat when you are hungry, Sleep just before you fall down. Get up early and start again. If you want to learn, you won't be sleeping.

Sorry I won't be there, I have a date with a moose. He won't be sleeping either.

Neil

Eric, there is a list of hotels in the Hot Iron News. I guess you decided to pass on the camping?

We're planning for a Thursday after work departure. See you all there.
