Hey Guys, We'll be having a hammer-in at Gene Bland's shop Saturday, March 23rd, from 9:00 to 5:00.. We don't have a demonstrator lined up, we'll just be getting together to play in the fire and plan some more hammer-ins. We'll also be planning for the "Blacksmith Wars" at Mount Hood this August. We are not trying to compete with or shun you fella's up north, just trying to get more people involved in blacksmithing. There are a lot of folks down here who don't want to drive for 3 plus hours to get to Longview.
Backwood's Blacksmith shop is located 1/2 way between Sutherlin and Elkton on Highway 138 in kinda West Southern Oregon. The address is 535 Brad Road, Oakland, Oregon... if you want to google map it. Call or email Gene 541-459-2879 or bland2879@yahoo.com or you can pm or email me.

Gene has a big ole shop and we're looking forward to lot's of folks.. By the way, Gene says there is only one place to eat anywhere near him... Says it's pretty good... Burgers, beer, sounds good.:bounce:

We're gonna have some world class smiths down at this hammer-in!!! If you don't get there... You'll regret it!:mstickle::mstickle::mstickle:
Not trying to steal anything from my friends up north... just a whole lot closer to get some smiths together! We've got tail gating and forging in the fire!!! Gene will demo making 'hawk heads from railroad spikes with forge welded steel for the cutting edge... I will demo the "blown over leaf scroll" from 1/2" round bar, and forging horseshoe hearts with horse heads from a horseshoe...

Hope to see you there!!!:mstickle:

Lynn
