One thing I’ve struggled to find in Washington is a scrap yard.  If you’re looking for scraps of steel plate, tubing, angle, flat & round bar, band saw blades, etc, etc, etc.. take some doughnuts down to Metals Supermarkets and make some friends.  Every time I stop by for steel I end up leaving with something awesome from the bin by their big saw or the big scrap bins in the back.  I haven’t gone overboard with it so they’ve never charged me for anything that I’ve pulled out of the bins.
